London based Soprano, Victoria Oruwari is currently a teacher of singing, at Acton High school London, and Edward Wilson Primary school. She is an associate of Drake music. A Charity that runs outreach projects “Connecting across difference” being one of them.

Armed with a BMus Degree which preceded a postgraduate diploma in voice awarded by the Trinity College of music, Victoria has worked in various school environments helping children discover and expand their knowledge of singing. She is currently working with the Children of Arnham Wharf Primary as part of the Project “connecting across difference”

This project aims to empower enable and integrate children with various disabilities by giving them the opportunity to discover their artistic potentials through the use of music, story telling, and acting. The participants will include disabled and non disabled children as the aim of the project is to encourage the children to find common ground on which they can relate. The Schools involved will explore various ways of making music, make use of visual art materials, learn new pieces, and contribute in the writing and production of a play that explores various aspects of their daily lives. This play will be performed at the Museum of childhood in March 2009.

Victoria has worked With the Gifted and talented children of the boroughs of Bexley heath, Lewisham, Greenwich and Tower hamlet, teaching them South African township songs and preparing them for a performance at the Blackheath halls with Prudence Mampe, a South African singer.  

In July 2008 Victoria led a workshop for young children entitled “the Musical Menagerie” at the Wigmoore Hall. Participants were encouraged to choose an

Animal and work creatively in character to produce music.

She has also worked as a Singing teacher and Vocal Workshop leader at the Westminster Academy where she directed the school choir, and prepared pupils for their BTEC performance exams.

Victoria has led singing workshops at the RNIB Music day which was held at the Regents hall in 2007. Her role as a workshop leader involved, getting the participants to interact musically as they learnt gospel songs in preparation for a concert they would give at the Regents hall at the end of the day.

Her current role as a teacher of singing, involves discovering and developing young voices by recommending suitable repertoire, monitoring their progress, and co-directing the school choir.
